Finding delicious recipes that include sea vegetables can sometimes be tricky. Dulse seems to be one of the few sea vegetables that most people like and is extremely high in much needed minerals. This salad is one of those where you can feel the goodness pumping through your veins. I LOVE this recipe!

EQUIPMENT
Sharp knife or Mandoline, Blender

INGREDIENTS
3/4 head of lettuce (any type, though you'll need 2-3 heads if using Little Gem lettuce)
1 ripe avocado
2-3 large tomatoes
Large chunk of cucumber
Handful of pre-soaked dulse seaweed (soak for about 15 minutes)
DRESSING: 1 Tablespoon raw almond butter, the juice of ¼ lemon, ¼ cup water. Handful of fresh coriander (cilantro)
Click here to continue reading >

If you’re thinking of transitioning to a raw food lifestyle, you may well be asking yourself: “What will people say?”

One of the most common issues people have with eating raw is worrying about the social ramifications. Will you suddenly become a social outcast, or will people think you’re a “weirdo”?

Isn’t it ironic that when we try to look after ourselves better, especially through food, that the people around us so often try to talk us out of it, stand in our way, tempt us, tease us, make life a little bit difficult or just make negative comments that, sooner or later, often end up derailing us? It’s so easy to succumb, if only for an easier life.

If aliens visited our planet and observed what we ate, what we considered food and how we treated our most valuable possession, I suspect that they would run off laughing or shaking their heads in disbelief! And yet our immediate families typically think that the more processed and junk food they feed us, the more “loving” and “caring” they are being! We do know that they mean well, but really...?
Click here to continue reading >

I lived off this room service meal for five days straight whilst on my travels a few years ago in the USA. It was so good that I’m sharing the recipe here.

EQUIPMENT
Sharp knife

INGREDIENTS
1 large "slab" of watermelon cut into a rectangle approx. 15cm long x 10cm wide x 3cm tall.
2 large handfuls of baby spinach
1 large heirloom tomato cut into triangles
Balsamic vinegar for dressing (optional)
Side dish of guacamole (I used this to replace the customary goats cheese)
Click here to continue reading >

Transitioning to a raw food lifestyle will lead to a transformation, not just in your physical body but in your emotions and even in your spiritual life. You will look different, feel different and even think differently – you simply won’t believe how much better your life can become on every level!

That’s borne out by experience. I and many others are living proof of what’s possible. So why, at the start of their journey, do some people feel so awful that they’re tempted to give up?

Well, as you put more raw foods – the “good stuff” – into your body, it has to compete with the “not-so-good stuff” that’s already there, and you will feel the shift. Your entire physical make-up is being upgraded and replaced with superior building materials. You’re displacing the old stuff with the new and it will show itself as it leaves.

Headaches, lightheadedness, diarrhoea and skin outbreaks can all be symptoms of a shift that, though uncomfortable in the short term, will reap untold benefits very soon.

Some people assume that these symptoms are down to the food they’re eating. Well, of course that’s right, but it’s also very WRONG.

It’s what you’ve eaten (and taken in through other sources like toxic toiletries and medicines) in the past that is the contributor. It has to come out at some point!

Imagine a pond. This pond is a metaphor for your body.
Click here to continue reading >
